About This Job

Chief Metallurgist– 2025-048

Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM) is a forward-thinking mining company redefining the industry. We are seeking a Chief Metallurgist to join our growing McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site working a 14/14 rotation.

Foran Mining is a modern mining development and exploration company advancing Canada's only greenfield copper project currently under construction: the McIlvenna Bay deposit in Saskatchewan. With commercial production expected in mid-2026, this world-class deposit contains copper, zinc, gold, and silver – key metals for the global transition to green energy. At Foran, we are committed to sustainable development, environmental protection, and building strong communities. We believe in empowering our people, fostering a culture of growth, and creating opportunities for meaningful careers as we build the mines of the future.

As part of the Mill Operations Team, the Chief Metallurgist is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of metallurgical operations. You will drive the optimization of processes, ensure quality control, and contribute to the safe and efficient extraction of valuable minerals at optimum concentrate grades. You will lead a team of metallurgists and collaborate with cross-functional departments to achieve operational excellence and maintain the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the Metallurgy department, offering mentorship, leadership, and technical support to metallurgists.
Develop and execute strategies to optimize mineral processing for higher recovery and production efficiency.
Oversee metallurgical test work and research initiatives to enhance processes and drive innovation.
Work closely with mining, engineering, and production teams to align metallurgical efforts with operational goals.
Monitor and analyze process data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and uncover improvement opportunities.
Assess and implement new technologies, equipment, and methods to boost processing performance.
Allocate resources effectively to meet production targets and maintain quality standards.
Ensure all metallurgical activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and present technical reports, updates, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance performance, reduce costs, and support environmental sustainability.
Contribute to long-term planning and development of metallurgical projects to support company growth.

Job Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or related discipline.
8–15+ years of progressive metallurgical experience
Experience with copper-zinc flotation preferred.
Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a mill or concentrator setting.
Strong understanding of mineral processing circuits, particularly for base metals.
Experience with metallurgical accounting systems, process control systems, and metallurgical modeling software.
Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations relevant to mineral processing.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive starting salary range of $146,000 - $160,000/year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.

Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

Employer paid health, dental, and vision insurance
Life and disability insurance
RSP with company match
Camp-based position with travel support

Foran is committed to building a skilled and diverse workforce as we move into our next phase of growth. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to self-declare when submitting applications and resumes. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, you must be legally able to work in Canada.

The McIlvenna Bay Project site is a drug and alcohol-free workplace. Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position and the remote work environment, candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, which includes drug and alcohol testing, as a condition of employment.

Deadline for applications to be submitted is: June 22, 2025
