About This Job

Wastech Services, a subsidiary of the Belkorp Group of Companies, is a BC-based company. We operate the Campbell Hill Landfill in Cache Creek, BC and are also responsible for the post closure care of the Cache Creek Landfill including the operation of a 4.8 MW power plant the converts landfill gas to electricity. The electricity is sold to BC Hydro under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement.

We are looking to add a Power Plant Operator to our team. This position will focus on operating and maintaining 3 x Cat GC 3520 generators and ancillary equipment including switch gear, transformers, blowers, and chillers. This position will report to the General Manager and will be based at our Cache Creek Landfill.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•

Analyze trending/Human Machine Interface (HMI) data

•

Daily inspection of key engine and generator parameters to ensure they are operating within their design band

•

Clean/replace consumable parts such as filters and sparkplugs and maintain related documentation

•

Inspect auxiliary equipment

•

Plan/schedule/organize maintenance

•

Organize/update spreadsheets

•

Troubleshooting/repairs of miscellaneous equipment

•

Site clean-up

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

•

Industrial electrician, mechanic, or related experience within these disciplines.

•

Five years minimum experience related to power plant operations.

•

Ability to work with minimal supervision efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

•

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

•

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, in particular Excel and Outlook.

•

Ability to keep data and files organized and presentable.

•

Effective verbal, listening and communication skills.

•

Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

•

Class 5 Drivers License in good standing.

•

Available on-call related to operations upsets.

•

Ability to follow job related procedures including health and safety.

OTHER INFORMATION

•

Salary: $95,000 to $110,000 plus bonus eligibility

•

Company vehicle or vehicle allowance to support personal driving to and from the Cache Creek Landfill (e.g., to and from Cache Creek to Kamloops)

Pay: $95,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
