About This Job

Viking Materials is a metal service center, established in 1973 and was acquired by Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co in 2001. We supply raw materials (carbon, stainless steel, and aluminum) to a variety of manufacturing and other industries.

This position is onsite with a schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.


HIGHLIGHTS OF THE POSITION:

Conduct a variety of administrative and support activities to keep the office functions running efficiently. This includes:

Greeting customers, answering phones, and distributing incoming and outgoing mail.
Working closely with departments on various ongoing and ad-hoc projects.
Cross-training with other positions to act as a backup, including but not limited to costing, analyzing discrepancies with inventory and costs, payroll processing.
Developing and maintaining a solid working relationship with office personnel.
Reviewing and scanning documents into document retention system.


KNOWLEDGE AND CORE COMPETENCIES:

Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel.
Role requires excellent attention to detail as well as the ability to maintain electronic records and perform data entry with accuracy.
Critical thinking, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills necessary.
Exceptional communication (verbal and written), organizational, and multitasking skills.
Positive, professional, and courteous demeanor.
Confidentiality is required when handling sensitive information.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Support office personnel with special projects.
General understanding and knowledge of day-to-day operations of all business units. This includes sales, accounting, and operations.
Take on several tasks that include data entry, daily reporting, export compliance, invoicing (A/R), social media and public reach (depending on suitability), and more.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma (or equivalent).
One to two years’ relevant work experience.
