Job Summary
As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on company equipment, including tractors and trailers. Your primary duties will involve preventative maintenance and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems to ensure equipment is in optimal working condition.
Key Responsibilities
•Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on company equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
•Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions in vehicles and equipment.
•Conduct regular P.M. inspections to ensure compliance with DOT requirements.
•Assist with road service calls during emergency breakdowns, as needed.
•Complete necessary documentation for repairs and parts usage.
•Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
•Support special projects and tasks as assigned by the VP of Fleet Maintenance.
•Ability to safely enter and exit the driver's compartment of the truck, and position objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
•Perform inspections and maintenance tasks involving bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and crawling when necessary.
Qualifications
•Valid and unrestricted Driver’s License.
•Vocational training in automotive or mechanical trade preferred; ASE Diesel Certification a plus.
•At least 1 year of experience as a technician, preferably with tractor and trailer maintenance.
•Mechanical knowledge with Piccard, Mack and Petebuilt ( Preferred )
•Own a toolbox (preferred).
Preferred Experience
•Minimum 1 year of experience with tractor and trailer maintenance.
•Experience in diesel mechanics or related field.
