Job Summary:

Responsible for leading all short term and long-term supply activities for UGI Utilities. This work includes capacity planning and acquisition as well as the development of the gas hedge plans, storage plans, Choice program plans, monthly setups, and daily setups. This includes managing the planning and implementation of the purchase of gas supplies for over 500,000 gas default service customers and electric supplies to serve 60,000 plus electric default service customers as well as managing supply delivery for approximately 50 natural gas suppliers and electric generation suppliers serving over 100,000 customers. Correspondingly, prepare regulatory filings, serve as UGI expert witness and defend via testimony all gas and electric supply decisions. Also responsible for developing and implementing 1) regulatory strategies, 2) vibrant programs for transportation customers without harming the PGC customers which remain as sales customers of the utility, and 3) expanding the opportunities to optimize the UGI Gas supply portfolio to reduce costs for its customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead resources of the supply department on the long- and short-term efforts consistent with seasonal supply plans in order to meet UGI’s statutory least cost procurement mandate while also ensuring reliability of supply, price stability, and where possible, environmentally sustainability. Manage the development of off-system sales, capacity release, and asset management budgets for supply and manage the supply department's efforts to optimize these additional revenues with the goal of reducing costs for our customers.
Develop consistent regulatory strategies for UGI Gas. Coordinate the supply department's Purchased Gas Cost (PGC) activity including, but not limited to, pre-filing requirements, filing requirements, preparation and presentation of expert testimony, Pennsylvania PUC audits and preparation of responses to data requests or interrogatories. Provide associated technical support for other groups. Participate in in all FERC rulemakings, rate cases or settlements, related to matters involving interstate pipelines affecting UGI's interests, including, but not limited to, gas price, security of supply, adequate and timely gas transportation, gas storage, gas quality and gas supply operations.
Evaluate the distribution system for opportunities and potential constraints that impact supply and/or marketing. Maintain balance between the contractual rights held by UGI and the physical needs of the distribution system.
Lead resources to refine UGI's transportation programs consistent with UGI's tariff requirements and associated policies and procedures. Provide required training, guidance and management of licensed suppliers operating on UGI's systems related to system delivery activities. Develop, monitor and/or enforce transportation provisions and policies which are consistent with Code of Conduct requirements, discourage arbitrage, and ensure the integrity of UGI's distribution networks through diligent management of supply deliveries into UGI's distribution systems.
Direct the development and implementation of the company’s Default Service plan which is for all electric purchases including commodity, capacity, alternate energy credits, etc. for over 60,000 customers. Electric supply planning also includes the creation and defense of a complete state regulatory filing.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead a cross-functional team including vendor, professional, technical, and administrative employees.
Significant knowledge of energy supply procurement practices and systems, UGI and pipeline tariffs, state and federal regulatory requirements, energy portfolio management.
Excellent project management and process improvement skills.
Knowledge of UGI systems (SAP, Gastar, People Connect) and MS Office (emphasis on Excel).
Strong organization, data management, and anylitical skills.
Strong communication and persuasion skills.
General knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.


Education and Experience:

B.S. Degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent coupled with an M.B.A. or suitable experience.
10+ years of utility industry experience, preferably within Energy Supply function.
