Quanta Utility Engineering Services (QUES) is currently accepting applications for a full-time utility project engineer providing contract engineering resources to a local electric and gas utility in Butte, Montana.
This position will be supporting the company’s wildfire mitigation efforts in analyzing and improving critical overhead power distribution lines identified as high risk to wildfire. The engineer will first conduct field surveying in various rural and urban locations throughout western Montana and then use the data to build a pole loading and clearance model on the computer. From there, the engineer will suggest fixes and put together a construction package including drawings, plans, and materials, and then manage the work during construction.
The position will be about 50% of the time in the office and 50% in the field. Employees must have reliable transportation and are expected to use their vehicle for work, but are reimbursed mileage at the current federal IRS rate. Candidates must also possess a valid driver’s license and a clean record.
Any candidates with relative utility or construction experience will be strongly considered, but relative experience is not required. QUES will provide all training for the position
