Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Summary:

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specilist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety and environmental programs within the aerospace manufacturing facility. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a safe work environment. The EHS Specialist will serve as the primary resource for EHS policies.

Responsibilities and Duties:

•

Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

•

Conduct regular audits and inspections of the facility to identify potential hazards and assess compliance with safety standards.

•

Manage workers' compensation programs, including injury reporting, claims management, and return-to-work programs.

•

Lead incident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

•

Provide training and resources to employees on EHS practices, emergency procedures, and safety awareness.

•

Oversee stormwater pollution prevention plans and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

•

Develop and implement pollution incident prevention plans to minimize the impact of potential spills or releases.

•

Manage hazardous waste disposal processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and best practices.

•

Serve as company ITAR Compliance Officer

•

Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, preparing reports for management and regulatory agencies.

•

Collaborate with various departments to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

•

Stay current on industry regulations, best practices, and emerging EHS trends to ensure ongoing compliance and improvement.

•

Serve as the primary contact for EHS-related inquiries and ensure effective communication on EHS matters.

•

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

•

In-depth knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations, particularly related to hazardous materials and waste management.

•

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address safety and environmental issues effectively.

•

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all levels of the organization.

Education and Experience:

•

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.

•

2 plus years of experience in EHS or a related field, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

•

Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) are a plus.

Physical Demands:

•

Ability to conduct site inspections, including walking, climbing, and navigating various work environments.

•

May require occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 25 pounds.

•

Comfortable working in a manufacturing setting with varying noise levels and conditions.

•
