POSITION SUMMARY:
The Field QC Manager will be an integral part of the SME Quality System. This individual will manage all field QC activities, ensuring the correct personnel, systems, and regulations are followed for each job site. This will include structural steel, stairs, and miscellaneous inspection. This position travels up to 50% of the time, based out of West Jordan, Utah (preferred); Henderson, Nevada; or Los Angeles, California.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Review the contracts and specifications for each project.
•Develop a Project Specific QC Plan for each project.
•Attend General Foreman Meetings to kick off each project.
•Manage the AISC Certification and other Jurisdictional qualifications relating to the field.
•Ensure projects receive the correct resources, including personnel and equipment.
•Visit job sites and perform inspections as needed and where required.
•Manage and communicate the needs for welding procedures and assist in developing PQR’s where needed.
•Ensure reports and documentation are completed and filed appropriately, in a timely manner.
•Attend weekly sector meetings.
•Attending Quarterly QC Manager meetings.
•Report to the QA/QC Director weekly on needs, issues, and general information.
•Interface with third-party inspectors as needed.
•Manage Non-conformances, and work with superintendents to resolve issues.
•Interface with SME Safety Professionals as needed.
•Maintain equipment and calibration log when appropriate.
•Perform assigned duties within the requirements of the project specifications, applicable codes, and standards as defined in contract documents and the SME Quality Management System.
•Work extended hours, Weekends, or shift changes, and different locations where needed and assigned.
•Pay close attention to detail for inspections, drawing reviews, and compliance with the final product.
•Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform each essential duty daily.
•High School Diploma or equivalent.
•5 years’ experience in working with iron or structural steel inspection during erection.
•AWS CWI or similar certification
•NDT Level II (preferred)
•Ability to understand the working mechanisms of tools and machinery to be used.
•Ability to do simple math and/or algebraic formulas as deemed necessary by work type.
•Must be dependable, reliable, and mature enough to handle equipment in a safe sensible manner and complete work assignments in a timely, professional manner.
•Must be authorized to work in the United States.

•Able to work for extended hours in a physically challenging environment, working from scaffolding and/or ladders as required.

•Occasional lifting and moving supplies or equipment, typically up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•Outdoor atmosphere with occasional time in an office. Noise levels can be high at times.
•Outdoor temperatures are unregulated, meaning depending on the season and location temperatures could be hot or cold in the immediate areas where work assignments must occur.
•Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such head protection, eye protection, and steel-toed footwear in designated areas.
