Job Overview
The Financial Project Manager will oversee and support coordinators and team lead in managing the financial health of solar installation projects. This includes handling cost aspects of change orders—both contractual and material add-ons—and flagging items for Operations and Sales to take necessary actions to steer projects toward better financial outcomes. The role involves reporting and maintaining commissions and red-line budgets to ensure financial success within the project's scope.
This position requires specialized expertise in the solar industry, encompassing commission payouts, adders, project funding, Notice to Proceed (NTP) processes, and material and inventory tracking. The Financial Project Manager will ensure project viability, manage costs, and conduct periodic reviews to support the company’s strategic financial objectives.
Duties
•Complete analysis review of project pipeline to ensure the viability of solar projects, ensuring items are updated and tracked in CRM.
•Oversee and verify commission payouts, red-line tracking, rebates, and credits to maintain accurate financial records.
•Complete project reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
•Review Accounts Receivable summaries and expedite job funding to meet weekly and monthly financial metrics.
•Regularly report on project financial progress and key metrics to senior management and the Corporate Controller.
•Communicate financial performance, challenges, and recommendations to team leads and coordinators.
•Assist the Controller in implementing and refining financial policies and controls to enhance financial management and efficiency.
•Collaborate with coordinators and staff accountants to manage Accounts Receivable, focusing on data accuracy, timely turnaround, and adherence to processes and compliance standards.
•Perform reviews of project costs, providing actionable insights and recommendations for budget improvements.
•Regularly collaborate with the Finance, Sales, and Operations teams, as well as the Controller, to communicate project financials and resolve discrepancies.
•Input and maintain financial model template to project cash flows, assess project viability, and support strategic decision-making.
•Serve as a liaison between finance, sales, operations, and external stakeholders, effectively communicating financial insights and project statuses to ensure alignment and transparency.
•Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within the project lifecycle.
•Train finance team members and project coordinators on financial best practices, tools, and compliance requirements to build a knowledgeable and effective team.
•Serve as the primary liaison for communicating commission payout details to both internal team members and external dealers. Utilize various communication methods
•Ensure that all stakeholders have a clear understanding of commission calculations, payment schedules, and any adjustments, fostering transparency and trust within the dealer network.
Competencies

•Strong understanding of solar industry financials, including commission structures, adders, project funding mechanisms, NTP processes, and inventory tracking.
•High level of detail for QBO entries and project management software entries.

•Strong knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, and professional communication to draft clear and accurate reports.
•Skilled in administrative and office systems, such as document management, records retention, and workflow organization.
•Proficiency with Excel, Word, and project management software for tracking and analyzing financial data.
•High Attention to Detail is required to oversee entries in project management software and address discrepancies.
Qualifications
•Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
•3 years of proven experience in financial services or a similar role, demonstrating expertise in financial management and accounting principles.
•Strong skills in account analysis, and risk analysis.
•Excellent leadership abilities with a track record of managing cross-functional teams effectively.
•Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and present findings clearly.
•Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.
