GIS Technician Job Description


Summary

This position is responsible for the accurate GIS data entry of the intrastate and interstate pipeline assets utilizing various tools including GIS, ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, Intrepid for PODS, Intrepid for ArcGIS Pro ( CHA Geo Solutions

pipeline asset maintenance applications) and PODS 4.02 database. This includes research, modifications and updates to the pipe specifications and pipeline features.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for building and maintaining the current GIS database, utilizing the ESRI GIS software suit and specialize tool sets.

•
Creating and editing data in PODS database using ArcGIS Pro and specialized tools.

•
Knowledge of pipeline and survey stationing. Having the ability to read, understand and convert survey information which would include, GPS points, stationing, station equations, survey notes and CAD drawings. Understanding how to use this information in the generation of schematics, alignment sheets and facility detail sheets.
•
Responsible for creating and editing linear features and stationing route events, reconciling/posting versions. Knowledge of how to corrects stationing, linear maintenance and pipeline Information upon request.
•
Experience in building Portals and Dashboards for a variety of stakeholders throughout Air Products.
•
Ability to understand historical data such as: material lists, completion reports, hydro tests, mill test, MAOP Certifications and management of change forms and documents.
•
Must be able to use ESRI apps including ArcGIS Pro, Survey 123, Field Maps, Dashboards, Experience Builder and Esri Portal.
•
A positive continuous learning attitude is a Plus

Preferred Qualifications

: Education and/or experience, knowledge, skills & abilities

•
Understanding of the 49CFR192 and 49CFR195 regulations.

•
Certification or above in ESRI ArcGIS ArcMap/ArcPro Essentials
•
Experience with Pipeline Linear Referencing is a Plus

Requirements: Education and/or experience, knowledge and abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

•
High school diploma or equivalent.

•
GIS Undergraduate Degree is a Plus.
•
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience using GIS software suite, ArcMap/ArcPro
•
Good computer skills - proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
•
Excellent communication and people skills.
•
Strong organization skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
•
Initiative-taking and able to work with minimal supervision.

Usually, normal office working conditions.
•
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
•
A Hybrid work schedule which involves working Monday through Wednesday in the La Porte, Texas Pipeline office with Thursday and Friday remote (from home).
