About the Role:

The Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for oversight of safety protocols and procedures at the project site.  This position provides support, coordination, and technical expertise in areas of health and safety with the primary objective to prevent accidents, injuries, and health hazards in the workplace. This position will serve as the liaison between Operations and the Projects Team. This position will also be the lead for commissioning and startup activities coordination between contractor, project, and operations.


Reports To:  Site Health & Safety Lead


Duties & Responsibilities:


Health & Safety

Ensure compliance with company safety standards and procedures
Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses
Investigate incidents and near misses to identify root causes


Leadership

Provide guidance and support to site personnel on safety-related issues
Encourage a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement
Mentor and coach employees on safe work practices
Commitment to maintaining respectful behaviors and professionalism in all areas of job performance


Work Processes & Systems

Maintain safety records and documentation
Provide support for updating procedures as needed
Implement safety measures to control and mitigate risks
Participate in emergency response plans and drills
Develop and distribute safety communications and materials


Excellence

Monitor and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement
Stay current on industry safety standards and best practices
Commitment to continuous improvement in workplace safety


Technical

Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and other safety standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, safety audits, and inspections
Fluent in risk assessment and hazard analysis techniques (HAZOP/LOPA/SIL)


Key Accountabilities

Oversee all safety-related activities at the worksite
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations
Support and maintain safety programs and procedures
Report safety performance and incidents to management
Routinely engage with contractors to support adherence to regulatory and company protocols


Skills & Experience:

Demonstrated experience in a safety-related role
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, report writing, and documentation
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Proactive, self-motivated with a strong work ethic


Qualifications

6 or more years of experience in a safety-related role
Certification in Health & Safety preferred (ASP, CSP, CHST, OHST, CSST)


Internal

HSE and Regulatory Affairs Teams
Security and Emergency Management Team
Project / Site Management Team


External

EPC Contractors
Outside Regulatory Agencies
