POSITION SUMMARY

As the HRVLP HSE Officer, you will work collaboratively with our team to educate and promote a safety culture that inspires workers to work safely and protect the environment. The HSE role has a focus on education and promoting a safety culture that minimizes risk and results in a safer workplace.
We typically have 4 - 6 projects underway with a range of 20 - 40 employees. The position will require both office and field time to implement daily requirements.
Responsibilities:
•Ensure that all requirements of the Health, Safety & Environment Program are carried out by all project personnel, including construction management, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and other parties working on or visiting the project site.
•Actively participate and contribute to the management team and provide leadership within the organization regarding continuous safety improvement.
•Coordinate reviews of procedures and Safe Work Practices.
•Set up an inspection schedule and confirm that regular inspections and job observations are being performed.
•Report to management and assist supervision to develop action plans that address recurring issues/negative trends.
•Be conversant with, and have copies of all, jurisdictional legislation, Safety Manuals, and Safe Work Practices.
•Conduct and follow up on Annual Safety Audits (COR) as prescribed by Enform.
•Support HRVLP bid proposal development.
•Attend planning and coordination meetings and consult on safety policy and Safe Work Practices.
•Annual review of the HSE Manual with senior management.
•Aid the Lead Investigator on all high potential and critical incidents/accidents.
•Assist and comply with government personnel and orders issued.
•Inform the Project Manager regarding all safety correspondence from external agencies and sources and prepare and issue formal responses.
•Coordinate and direct on-site safety training programs as authorized by the Project Manager.
•Conduct and record quarterly Safety Program Compliance Audits.
•Submit weekly safety reports and monthly safety statistics.
•Maintain a project health and safety filing system.
•Participate in the evaluation and selection of all subcontractors.
•Develop, implement, and maintain an emergency response plan and ensure that the plan is reviewed and updated on a progressive basis to reflect the changes in the site organization and activities.
•Establish, schedule, and coordinate planned inspections of the work site. Participate in inspections monthly and ensure that inspection reports are reviewed to identify repetitive items and underlying causes.
•Maintain a high degree of professionalism on and off site.
Qualifications:
•Minimum 5 years’ experience in industry
•Experience in a Safety Managers role or assistant
•Certified as or currently working towards NCSO Certification
•OH&S Certificate or currently working towards one.
•Must be proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, safety software, and internet and email tools
•Familiar with Safety Sync and SiteDocs

Pay: $38.00-$41.00 per hour
