Job Summary

We're looking for a skilled Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to join our maintenance team. In this role, you'll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of field instrumentation devices for our process equipment and automated control systems. You'll play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our plant, collaborating closely with operations and EHS through our Safe Work Permit and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Responsibilities

•

Install & Maintain: Perform hands-on installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of various field instrumentation devices.

•

Vibration Expertise: Remove, test, document, and re-install vibration sensors, and configure vibration monitoring and protection systems by understanding mechanical dynamics and leveraging vibration spectral analysis.

•

Read & Interpret Schematics: Effectively identify, interpret, and utilize drawings and documentation related to electrical and process controls, including Electrical One-line diagrams, P&IDs, wiring schematics, and more.

•

Networking Know-How: Understand basic networking for Ethernet and Modbus connections, including building Modbus maps and conducting tests.

•

Troubleshoot & Repair: Be a first-level responder for equipment troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair, working collaboratively with other maintenance team members on mechanical equipment.

•

Documentation & Safety: Build documentation for troubleshooting and calibrations, initiate LOTO and Safe Work Permits (SWPs), and rigorously follow all requirements to ensure the safety of equipment, personnel, and contractors.

•

Continuous Improvement: Support ongoing continuous improvement initiatives in both production and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) performance.

Requirements

•

Education: An Associate's Degree in Instrumentation Electronics is required. (Relevant work experience in process instrumentation and electrical trades, particularly in process plant environments, may be considered in lieu of a degree.)

•

Electrical Experience: Proven experience in electrical work, including Class 1 Division 2 (CL1 Div2) environments.

•

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•

Team Player: Ability to work effectively within teams, both as a leader and a contributing member. You should also be able to lead contractors and ensure their safety.

•

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to drive process improvements.

•

Physical Stamina: Ability to access all work areas in the plant (e.g., climb ladders, navigate catwalks, work at heights up to 50 feet), lift, twist, and turn up to 50 lbs (e.g., open and close large valves, inspect equipment, don emergency PPE), and quickly respond to plant emergencies.

•

Process Acumen: Competency in process design and optimization.

•

Safety Mindset: Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this role, you must be able to pass regular and routine chemical dependency testing.

Nice-to-Haves:

•

5+ years of experience with vibration monitoring/protection systems and troubleshooting.

•

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.

•

Certifications from trade schools and ISA CCST are preferred.

•

Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining controls or vibration systems.

•

Process Control programming skills.

•

Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, especially for CL1 Div2 environments.

•

Strong computer and networking skills.

•

Proficiency with MS Office and other basic computer programs.
