Position Summary:

Under the guidance of experienced personnel, interns will perform the design, layout, and analyses for uranium enrichment processes and supporting plant processes. This work includes specification of engineering design requirements and prepares engineering evaluation reports by compiling and studying existing system documentation and developing updated requirements working with subject matter experts and design teams. This temporary position will be held between the months of May 2025 and August 2025 with flexible starting and ending dates to accommodate various college and university schedules.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs basic design tasks, assists with other tasks depending on field of study such as: research, investigations, material testing and drawings; performs standard computations or analysis.
Participates in all phases of assigned standard engineering projects, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at an appropriate cost.
Prepares a variety of written summaries, informal reports and progress reports on work.
May assist Senior or Principal Engineers on projects and tasks
May participate in Safety and Quality Assurance activities by serving on teams, special projects, attendance at meetings, training sessions, special assignments, etc.
Participate in reviews of technical designs and papers as either the prime presenter or a panel member.
Preparation of engineering documentation including (but not limited to): reports, design requirements documents, engineering specifications, and other documentation required by the engineering design process.
End of summer presentation to the team on the accomplishments and lessons learned from the internship.


Position Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate from a bachelor’s or graduate program in an engineering discipline or other related fields of study.
Candidates should be willing to learn and work on development of new skills.
Candidates should have a general understanding of basic engineering and scientific principles learned in their respective disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

We would love to hear from candidates with classroom or internship experience working with engineering design processes and procedures, technical writing, and problem solving.
Preference may be given to applicants who have completed at least two years of study.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

This position will require a pre-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test and vetting to ensure Centrus Energy can meet the requirements of 10 CFR Parts 810 and 1017 to grant access to export-controlled information and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information, respectively. Such access is required for performance of this position.
