The Position
Lead Operator
Job Summary* Ensure Area Shift Inspections are completed and report safety concerns/necessary maintenance.
•Conduct daily shift meeting with operators to relay plan of action for the shift
•Confers with the Production Supervisor on any special instructions.
•Monitors and operates calciner, premills, horizontal mills, postmills, and spray dryers within desired ranges and specifications
•Achieve and maintain both individual and team KPI’s for calcine area
•Keeps statistical process control (SPC) charts on process variables
•Starts up, operates, and shuts down Bird and Alfa Laval centrifuges and auxiliary equipment; inspects machinery/equipment for mechanical problems.
•Ensure prescribed tests and checks are performed and enter results into established data collection systems
•Ensure all tank and silo levels measurements are entered into the established data collection system.
•Report any production losses to the Production Supervisor
•Ensure the start up, operation and shut down of blunger and auxiliary equipment (chemical tanks, chemical pumps, water pump, blunger transportation pump and other transportation pumps); inspects machinery for mechanical problems and records data.
•Ensure the start up, operation, and shut down of #3 and #4 spray dryers.
•Using equipment, transports crude to blunger site in order to feed desired blend to blunger.
•Performs prescribed tests and checks and records data and ensures re-checks are gathered in a timely manner for out of spec quality analysis
•Operates slurry makedown system (process) efficiently and safely according to work instructions.
•Determines the operating condition of slurry process equipment, i.e. feed systems, conveyor systems, dust collectors, chemical additions systems, pumps, and instruments.
•Ensures the repair of process equipment through the use of work orders generated in electronic systems.
•Ensure samples are collected for testing and delivered to the QA lab in accordance with the set schedule as designated by the Production Supervisor.
•Records process information on the appropriate operator report sheets and computer spreadsheets.
•Follows IMERYS Railroad Safety Rules and Guidelines.
•Wears appropriate safety protection, follows prescribed safety guidelines, and maintains clean and safe work areas.
•Maintains company issued cell phone at all times.
•Wears company issued radio at all times.
•Performs other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor or designee
