Description:

The PEMCO division of QSSI is seeking a dedicated Lighting Manufacturing Engineer with strong experience in Bill of Materials (BOM) management and manufacturing processes within the lighting industry. The ideal candidate will oversee product design, manage engineering changes, coordinate production, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the delivery of high-quality lighting fixtures and components efficiently and cost-effectively.


Key Responsibilities:

Lighting Product Manufacturing:

Maintain manufacturing design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical files. Create CAD drawings and cut sheets for projects as requested by the sales team.

Engineering Change Management:

Manage engineering changes for existing products, ensuring proper documentation, implementation, and communication across teams.

Bill of Materials (BOM) Management:

Create, review, and maintain detailed BOMs for lighting products—lamps, fixtures, and accessories. Develop planning BOMs aligned with sales forecasts to support adequate inventory levels and efficient production.

Component Selection & Procurement Support:

Collaborate with procurement to select appropriate components based on BOM specifications, quality standards, and cost considerations.

Work Order & Production Oversight:

Generate work orders for new production runs and component parts. Support manufacturing operations by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting process issues, and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and defects. Ensure products are constructed according to drawings and BOM specifications.

Process Optimization:

Work with production and maintenance teams to develop strategies that improve manufacturing performance, streamline workflows, and reduce waste.

Quality & Compliance:

Partner with Quality Assurance to develop testing procedures, verify product compliance with standards such as UL, IEC, and DLC, and maintain consistent quality.

Documentation & Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate manufacturing records, including process flows, BOM revisions, work instructions, and inspection reports.

Supplier & Vendor Coordination:

Engage with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of components, address quality concerns, and resolve supply issues.

Continuous Improvement:

Lead or participate in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement initiatives to foster a culture of ongoing enhancements.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure manufacturing processes adhere to safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry-specific certifications.

Hours: Generally Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm

Requirements:

Physical Demands (Summary): This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and using hands and fingers for extended periods. The role may involve lifting or exerting force up to [specify weight, e.g., 75 pounds], as well as climbing, crouching, or reaching. Additionally, the ability to see clearly at various distances and ranges is necessary. QUALIFICATIONS:

Authorized to work in the United States
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering (or related field) preferred
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, engineering, or BOM management, preferably within the lighting or related industry
Strong expertise in BOM management, revision control, component sourcing, and working with lighting industry standards (UL, IEC, DLC)
Experience with ERP systems, CAD/CAM software; proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is a plus
Knowledge of LED technology, electrical components, and lighting design principles
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, innovative environment


Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with international safety and performance standards for lighting products
Experience with process automation, advanced manufacturing technologies, and new product launches
Certifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
