Material Sciences Corporation (MSC) is an award-winning provider of metal solutions for a wide array of markets, including: automotive, consumer goods and construction. Our state-of-the-art Walbridge, Ohio facility has an immediate opening for a full-time Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. This position requires an experienced candidate that can assemble, build, adjust, dismantle and repair plant machinery and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•

Completes work designated on maintenance work orders assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

•

Corrects defective mechanical devices and equipment by disassembling, installing new parts, welding and/or re-fitting new parts.

•

Studies and interprets drawings, blueprints and schematics to install new equipment, modify existing equipment or troubleshoot mechanical problems with inoperative equipment.

•

Modifies and improves existing equipment as instructed.

•

Installs air, water and gas lines and repairs and maintains plumbing.

•

Repairs and maintains lift trucks and various pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.

•

Determines root cause of mechanical failures and repairs or replaces necessary parts.

•

Uses welding equipment to make repairs.

•

Works with Engineering, Operations and Quality Control during emergency break downs to restore operation as quickly as possible.

•

Maintains housekeeping and performs all tasks safely in shop area and work sites.

•

Orders replacement parts as needed using purchase requisition form.

•

Ability to work with others, including: hourly and salaried staff, outside vendors and contractors.

•

Works with electricians to perform tasks as needed.

•

Must be able to work any shift and/or overtime as required to meet production requirements.

•

All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

•

Department of Labor Apprenticeship Certificate, Journeyman card, Associates Degree in a related field or documented equivalent mechanical experience.

•

High School diploma or GED equivalent
