PSS Industrial Group is seeking a driven and knowledgeable Outside Sales Representative to support the growth of our Industrial Automation & Tools (IAT) business, with a particular focus on serving offshore drilling operations. This role is ideal for someone who understands the complex procurement environment of offshore oil & gas and thrives at the intersection of engineering needs and hands-on technical solutions.
You’ll be representing a trusted name in industrial distribution, helping customers solve problems with the right mix of winches, hoists, pneumatic tools, hydraulic systems, custom rigging solutions, and automation-ready equipment. Key Responsibilities
•Build and grow relationships with engineers, buyers, and operators in offshore drilling and support sectors.
•Serve as a subject matter expert on winches, hoists, and industrial tooling solutions offered by PSSI’s IAT division.
•Identify new sales opportunities through site visits, referrals, project tracking, and technical consultations.
•Translate customer specifications into tailored equipment and tool packages.
•Partner with internal technical and logistics teams to deliver customer-centric solutions on time and on spec.
•Prepare accurate quotes and proposals; manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to close.
•Conduct on-site visits to offshore rigs, service vessels, fabrication yards, and customer offices.
•Stay up to date on industry regulations, safety requirements, and new technology relevant to offshore tooling and automation.
•Utilize CRM software to manage pipeline and customer communication.
Qualifications
•Experience in offshore drilling or the broader oil & gas industry, ideally with exposure to mechanical tooling or automation solutions.
•Understanding of offshore procurement practices, technical bid evaluations, and compliance-driven purchasing decisions.
•Familiarity with winch, hoist, and hydraulic/pneumatic tooling is highly preferred.
•Ability to interpret technical documents such as schematics, drawings, and performance specs.
•Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and technical presentation skills.
•Comfortable working independently in a field-based role with regular travel (including offshore environments).
•CRM and Microsoft Office proficiency required; ERP system experience a plus.
Compensation
•Base Pay: $50,000 per year
•Commission & Bonus: Designed to reward growth while establishing your customer base
•Total Expected Compensation: Average of $150,000 annually (base + commission + bonus) after ramp-up
