Seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with manual lathes, and mills. If you are looking for part-time work and have knowledge in machining we offer competitive pay, and flexible scheduling.
The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating both manual and computer numerical control (CNC) machines to perform precision machining operations. This role involves interpreting technical drawings and specifications, programming CNC machines, selecting and installing cutting tools and accessories, monitoring machine operations, and conducting quality inspections on finished products.
Responsibilities:
•Must be able to run and set up manual lathe and milling machines to perform precision machining
•Must be able to operate CNC machines to perform precision machining operations
•Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine machining operations
•Select and install cutting tools, attachments, and accessories on machines
•Monitor machine operations to ensure proper functioning and make necessary adjustments
•Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy
•Troubleshoot issues with machines and make repairs as needed
•Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Skills:
•Proficient the setup and operation of manual mills and lathes and have the knowledge of operating CNC machines
•Knowledge of programming languages such as Okuma
•Ability to sharpen drills by hand when needed
•Must own or be willing to acquire some trade related tools.
•Must understand G&M code programming at machine control
•Must be comfortable working with large heavy parts
•Must be able to modify tooling & fixturing for jobs as needed
•Familiar with machining difficult-to-cut materials
•Familiar with fuel & oxygen tourch
•Experience with CAD/CAM programming software, such as SolidWorks
•Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
•Familiarity with power tools and other equipment used in machining processes
•Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team
•4th axis & live tooling knowledge is a plus
•Strong communication skills
