TRG, an Alter Trading Company is looking to add to its team. Alter Trading Corporation is a 125+ year old, privately held company with 70+ scrap metal processing facilities operates scrap metal processing facilities in 11 states and trades recycled materials nationally and internationally.
We are looking for a full time Transportation Manager to join our team in North Little Rock, AR this position must have previous Transportation experience.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Transportation Manager is responsible to dispatch for the Little Rock, AR location and to oversee the Transportation Division across a designated region, working with the Operational Management and Marketing Teams and local transportation staff to create efficiencies with regards to the staff and equipment. While creating a positive customer service experience through highly trained staff, with a focus on safety.
Essential Functions:
•Performs dispatching responsibilities for trucks to ensure that all customers are serviced in a timely professional manner and assists in resolving cost and customer satisfaction issues.
•Lead strategic analysis, planning and process improvement for the Transportation Division across Alter facilities in the designated region to generate and drive cost reductions and efficiencies.
•Create a database of transportation equipment in each market to share excess equipment and maximize the fleet across the corporation to reduce MRO costs.
•Work with local operations, marketing and purchasing teams to ensure both internal and external customers’ transportation needs are met.
•Oversees the performance assessment of internal truck drivers and Contract Carriers. Develop long-term relationships with existing and new Contract Carriers to promote a solid business relationship.
•Maintain and grow third party trucking capabilities across the region
•Assist the corporate Safety Team in promoting safety throughout the Transportation division across the region
•Utilize Scrap Runner program to generate and review critical transportation analysis. Drive this review to the local transportation and operational teams to assist in continuous efficiency initiatives
•Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators and business plans to provide support to the Facility Managers and RDO’s to achieve yearly goals
•Perform other duties as assigned
ABOUT YOU:
•Minimum of Associates degree in related field and 7-10 years of related management level experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
•Strong knowledge of logistics techniques & methods, process improvement methodology, and project management
•Be well organized and able to set priorities, manage time and coordinate multiple tasks
•Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Transportation related software
•DOT Regulations, working knowledge
