Job Summary:
Piedmont Metals is seeking a Safety/Maintenance Technician with a strong background in the steel manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience ensuring equipment reliability, maintaining workplace safety, and complying with OSHA and industry standards. This role is critical in maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including welding machines, conveyors, and overhead cranes.
•
Conduct routine safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety policies.
•
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime.
•
Maintain and repair facility infrastructure, including ventilation, lighting, and fire suppression systems.
•
Assist in safety training programs and ensure employees follow proper safety procedures.
•
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and safety inspections.
•
Respond to emergency maintenance requests to keep operations running smoothly.
•
Qualifications:Collaborate with production and safety teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
•
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate’s degree preferred in the industrial maintenance & welding technology.
•
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance and safety within the steel manufacturing industry.
•
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout procedures.
•
Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
•
Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
•
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
•
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
•
