Position Overview:

As a Sales Representative in our crane and heavy equipment division, you’ll take a leading role in driving revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, building strong customer relationships, and promoting our full suite of sales, rental, parts, and service offerings. This role combines technical product knowledge with solution-oriented selling and customer support to help expand our market presence.

You’ll work closely with customers and internal departments to ensure satisfaction, promote long-term loyalty, and contribute directly to achieving your branch’s business goals. Essential Functions:

Business Development: Identify and pursue new opportunities for equipment sales, rentals, service, and parts. Actively cold call and visit prospective customer locations to grow market presence.
Account Management: Support and retain existing accounts by following up on orders, resolving product issues, and maintaining strong customer relationships through consistent communication.
Product & Service Promotion: Educate customers on the features and benefits of our full range of offerings. Promote solutions that best meet their needs while increasing company revenue.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with departments across the organization — from engineering and service to logistics and marketing — to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Customer Experience: Deliver a consultative, relationship-driven experience. Act as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor, ensuring customer expectations are met or exceeded.
Sales Tracking & Engagement: Participate in trade shows, site visits, and industry events to promote brand visibility. Document all activity to ensure transparency and effectiveness.


Additional Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries
Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (both internal and external)
Maintain ongoing communication and adhere to all Companywide policies to eliminate and/or reduce exposure to liability
Special projects or work as assigned

What We’re Looking For:

An energetic, customer-focused sales professional with a strong understanding of equipment sales and a passion for building meaningful business relationships. You should be comfortable working independently in the field and thrive in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment.

Sales-driven mindset: Proven ability to meet or exceed targets through consultative selling and relationship development.
Strong communicator: Confident speaker and listener who can present effectively to both small groups and executive stakeholders.
Industry familiarity: Experience in construction equipment, cranes, or industrial machinery is highly preferred.
Organized & self-directed: Able to manage multiple priorities, track activity, and follow up consistently without micromanagement.
Team player: Willing to collaborate with all departments to ensure customer needs are met from order to delivery and beyond.


Required Education and Experience:

3+ years of sales experience, preferably in cranes, heavy equipment, or industrial machinery
Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and planning skills
Willingness and ability to travel frequently, including overnight stays
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word)


Preferred Education and Experience:

Working knowledge of crane models such as Manitowoc, Grove, or National
Experience navigating equipment sales cycles, quoting, and order fulfillment processes
Background in construction or equipment rental industries


Work Environment:

This is primarily an office classification and employees work in an office with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.

Works frequently offsite in various environments; significant travel is required. (monthly vehicle allowance with mileage reimbursement and company credit card for business expenses included.)

Physical Demands:

Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, typewriter keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.
Must be able to speak clearly and communicate clearly.
The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports, records, and other materials that typically weigh less than 30 pounds. Position will require traveling to customer/ client site.


Special Requirements/Certification:

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record is required. Excellent safety record.
