The Opportunity:

The Senior Analyst, Retail Finance is a key financial partner to the business and will be responsible for supporting a variety of activities including in-depth financial analysis, business reporting, month-end activities, budgeting, building financial models, performing research and preparing presentations for the Canada Retail.


Responsibilities:


Reporting and month-end activities

Lead / assist with month-end close activities (e.g., accruals) ensuring accuracy and reviewing / validating with relevant business partners, if required
Prepare accurate and insightful reporting on a monthly / quarterly basis for various Retail (Merchandise, Operations) and Corporate (Reporting, Investor Relations) teams
Prepare / support broader team in developing monthly / quarterly reporting packages with executive-level explanations of operational results and business / market trends


Business Partnering / Decision Support

Act as a trusted financial partner to the business, assisting with market research, analysis (both financial and non-financial), business model development and other decision support services
Help drive continuous business improvement by pro-actively analyzing operational results and identifying key business / market trends and opportunities
Develop Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) models for high-impact organic growth opportunities and create detailed business cases / presentations summarizing project returns (NPV, IRR, Payback), strategic alignment and recommendation(s)


Annual Budgeting Process

Prepare / support full P&L budget / planning process, including the impact to the balance sheet and cash flow
Assist in developing a detailed presentation of budget assumptions, key business drivers and variances to relevant periods for the SLT and Board


Other Ad Hoc

Support the Corporate Development, Investor Relations and Strategy teams in satisfying their information needs (M&A, Investor Updates, Divestments)
Participate in business change and system process improvements


Requirements:

Professional Accounting Designation, MBA, CFA or equivalent
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or economics with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a relevant strategic Corporate Finance role (e.g., FP&A, Corporate Development, Investor Relations), Consulting or Investment Banking
Experience with month-end close processes / activities including accruals
Working knowledge of Oracle EPM, Power Bi and Tableau Business Intelligence tools considered an asset
Advanced knowledge of Excel and Power Point including the ability to manipulate large volumes of data and extract value added information from multiple databases
Ability to develop relationships across departments and cultivate a collaborative approach to decision making
Keen interest in understanding the key business drivers of the Divisions and challenge pre-conceived interpretations of the impact of operational events and decisions on the financial results
Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze and critique complex financial models
Ability to work in a dynamic, ever-changing environment and deal with confidential, time sensitive issues
Ability to work independently and as a team player
Willingness to share information / knowledge, ask questions when in doubt and work towards a common goal
