Summary

The Senior Automation Programmer Lead will be responsible to for interpreting production drawings, designing programs and setting up machines to produce the component outlined in the program. In addition, conduct and evaluate the effectiveness of training for employees as needed, including shop floor employees.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible to ensure training of any new and or existing personnel on automation lines. At minimum this must include: operations, programming, and maintenance on the equipment.

Ensure to maintain a current an accurate program library. Note: All other end users shall only have a read only access to library (i.e., no edits from any other users).

Serve as the direct liaison for any automation line requiring any system support.

Spearhead any critical work in a time efficient manner with any external vendors and or internal team. This may require initiating work orders.

Responsible to ensure Automated Machine Attendants are trained to manage the entire cell, including: Welding set up, troubleshoot, train of employees and Welding throughput

Assist with any new automation implementations and or changes to equipment. This can include assistance with program implementation, layout, training, and so forth.

Serve as a technical adviser to management and provide programming perspective on requirements and make recommendations and or provide feedback for any continuous improvement initiatives.

Ensure performance appraisals of any direct reports.

Ensure management of any direct reports (i.e., targeted training plans, counselling, recognition, etc.).

Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge and experience:

Skills and Abilities

Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English.

Advanced knowledge of computer(s). Accreditation in Autocad.

Ability to perform basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

Ability to perform engineering calculations as it pertains to sheet metal.

Ability to accurately read measuring instruments (i.e., measuring tape, vernier caliper, level etc…) in both metric and imperial units.

Knowledge of tooling and ability to set up machinery as required.

Ability to read production orders and drawings.

Ability to set-up, and operate machinery as assigned

Ability to adapt and adjust to various assignments

Ability to work with minimum supervision
