This job involves going door-to-door in our service territory promoting the natural gas system and the benefits of making the change over to natural gas. This would be a mostly outdoor position during the summer so a love for the sun is a must!

Reporting to the Manager of Customer Operations, Ontario, the successful candidate would be responsible for canvassing the neighborhood within our service territory promoting natural gas to properties who are not currently connected to the natural gas system.

What you’d be responsible for


Going door-to-door to inform residents about the benefits of switching to natural gas.
Responding to inquiries and providing helpful information about the natural gas system.
Handing out brochures, flyers, or other materials to support outreach efforts.
Tracking and keeping records of conversations and feedback from residents.
Working alongside fellow team members to maximize outreach success.
Maintaining a positive and knowledgeable presence of EPCOR in the community.
Navigating various neighborhoods and adjusting approach based on different audiences.

Customer Interaction Experience – Gaining firsthand experience in public outreach and engagement.
Time Management & Organization – Keeping track of schedules, routes, and daily objectives.
Teamwork & Collaboration – Working closely with peers to optimize outreach efforts.
Public Speaking – Engaging with people one-on-one helps build confidence in clear, persuasive communication.
Customer Service – Interacting with potential customers allows students to develop patience, professionalism, and problem-solving skills.
Office Work – If tracking outreach efforts or handling promotional materials is involved, students may gain experience with organization, documentation, and reporting.


What’s required to be successful


Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate from an accredited Canadian post-secondary.
Strong communication skills – Engaging confidently with people is essential, as you'll be interacting with the public and sharing valuable information.
Self-driven & proactive mindset – Taking initiative and managing your time effectively ensures success in this independent field-based role.
Comfortable working outdoors – Since this position requires being outside for extended periods, enjoying outdoor work will help you thrive.
Adaptable & solution-oriented approach – Every interaction is different, and the ability to adjust and problem-solve on the spot is key.
Collaborative & team-minded – Working well with teammates strengthens outreach efforts and contributes to overall success.
Persuasive & engaging style – Effectively communicating the benefits of natural gas and influencing decisions will be a major part of this role.

Ability to withstand strenuous physical activity inherent to the work performed, as well as to function effectively outside under a variety of weather conditions and through all seasons.

Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and is subject to change based on the ratification of the new Collective Agreement.

To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.

Prior infractions for unsafe driving behaviours will be evaluated and considered for non-selection regardless of current demerits on file.
Successful applicants must provide their own vehicles with appropriate insurance in accordance with EPCOR’s Employee Mileage Reimbursement Policy. You will be reimbursed in accordance with EPCOR’s Employee Mileage Reimbursement Policy.
