About This Job

Position Overview

Assist with the supervision of the Operators that perform the day-to-day duties associated with the operation of a water or wastewater facilities. Oversee daily assignments for the special assignment operator. Has working knowledge of required procedures, equipment and operating standards and is able to resolve operational problems. Provides direction to the Operators that operate the facilities. Create and update Work Orders for routine or emergency repairs or maintenance of facilities operated. Work with specialized subcontractors to get maintenance or repairs made. Fill in when Operators are sick or on leave.

Essential Job Functions

•

Reports to Operations Department Supervisor

•

Assist with Supervisor duties in their absence.

•

Supervise Special assignment Operators areas of responsibilities

•

Administer Special assignment operator daily work assignments

•

Participate in, and administer training to Special Assignment Operators as directed by the Operations Department Manager.

•

Review completed work orders for Operators

•

Coordinate compliance of assigned area facilities

•

Coordinates and oversees contractors along with any facility inspections

•

Assist and advise administrative staff as needed with notebook related issues

•

Coordinate compliance with Company vehicle and safety policies

Water Treatment Plant:

•

Controls treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption.

•

Operates and controls electric motors, pumps, valves to regulate flow.

•

Admit specified amounts of chemicals.

•

Monitors, adjusts controls to regulate flow, pressure and distribution of water.

•

Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment using hand tools / power tools.

•

Tests water samples.

•

Maintains plant cleanliness

•

Records and Reviews data. (Paperwork and Birdnest)

Wastewater Treatment Plant:

•

Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing and disposal equipment to control

flow and processing of sewage.

•

Monitors control panels.

•

Adjusts valves and gates.

•

Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets meter and gauge readings and tests results to determine load requirements.

•

Starts and stops pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of raw sewage, through filtering, settlings, aeration and sludge digestion processes.

•

Maintains log or operations and records meter and gauge readings. Collects sewage samples and conducts lab tests using testing equipment.

•

Review data on Birdnest

•

Maintains plant cleanliness

•

On call duty required with reliable transportation.

•

Other duties as required.

Education and Experience Requirements

•

High School or GED

•

Minimum “B” Water and “B” Wastewater Certificates issued by the TCEQ

•

Minimum 5 tears water and wastewater operations experience

•

Good Driving Record

Able to work in all weather conditions

•

Must be able to push, pull and/or lift items weighing approximately 50 lbs. Subject to exposure to dust, fumes, vibration, noise and dirty working conditions.

•

Work Environment: Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).

•

Physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous tasks under varying weather conditions.

Pay: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour
