Job Summary

This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing metals processing and distribution work. Work includes specialized equipment operation and/or supporting functions and requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods employed by Phoenix Metals in metals processing and distribution.

Duties and Responsibilities

•

Operate light and heavy gauge shear machines including proper machine adjustments to correct steel shape, squaring, etc.

•

Maintain all aspects of product quality including selection and appearance of material, dimensional tolerance, weight, piece count, etc.

•

Prepare inspection records and report production data.

•

Measures and examines pieces using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, scales and squares to ensure conformance to specifications.

•

Cleans equipment according to designated maintenance procedures.

•

Diagnoses problems and makes necessary adjustments and removes scrap from machine.

•

Coordinates and executes material handling.

•

Completes work order paperwork/documentation.

•

Assist with handling quality issues

•

Communicate with other areas on changes to scheduling, processing, etc.

•

Report machine malfunctions to supervision and assist outside maintenance if needed with major repairs.

•

Maintain a safe and healthful work environment by practicing safe work habits, good housekeeping procedures and adhering to safety guidelines.

•

Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work and accordance with Reliance SteelAluminum Co. Safety Policy.

•

Assist in other areas on as needed basis.

•

Responsible for housekeeping in work area and assist in the plant

•

Daily forklift operation.

Responsible to communicate issues, problems or concerns to supervisor.

RequiredPreferred Qualifications

•

1+ years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

•

High School diploma/GED preferred.

•

Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.

•

Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting metal working machines preferred.

•

Operate assigned equipment in a safe and efficient manner

•

Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow processes and procedures

•

Ability to plan and prioritize workload

•

Maintain neat and orderly conditions in work area and help maintain and promote safe conditions throughout the facility

•

Ability to speak clearly and effectively to members of your company.

•

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all common units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

•

Ability to apply common sense understanding to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions, as well as alternative solutions.

•

Overall ability to understand the goals of the company (safety, efficiency, quality, etc.).

•

Must be able to effectively use company database (eStel).

•

Must demonstrate conflict resolution, respect, integrity, ethics, punctuality, dependability, accuracy, safety, and teamwork while maintaining company values.

•

Must have good keyboard skills

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Warehouse/Field Setting; minimal temperature environment

Shift: Monday-Friday 3p-11:30p.

Starting pay $20/hour. Eligible for quarterly bonus up to $1500.
