Wastech Services Inc., a subsidiary of the Belkorp Group of Companies, is an established BC company with a long-standing history of making a positive impact in the environmental sector. We currently operate the Campbell Hill Landfill in Cache Creek, BC.
We are looking to add a permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) Accounting Technician to our team. This position will report to the Operations Controller and will be based out of our head office in Kamloops, BC.
JOB DUTIES
Accounts Payable
•Process purchase quotes for purchase order generation;
•Process invoices by matching them against purchase orders and/or other receiving documents and following up on discrepancies;
•Reconcile vendor balances to transaction history;
•Validate vendor banking information for electronic payment;
•Prepare and process vendor EFT and wire payments;
•Prepare credit applications for new vendors;
•Support internal team members with the use of the company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
Accounts Receivable
•Calculate and generate daily and monthly customer invoices;
•Process and record customer payments.
General Accounting
•Bank reconciliations (CAD and USD);
•Intercompany journal entries;
•Prepare monthly tax returns;
•Post journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts;
•Preparation of Key Performance Indicators;
•Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements;
•Procedure and process documentation.
EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Education
•A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or commerce from an accredited Canadian institution; or
•An international bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or commerce and a post-graduate diploma in accounting from an accredited Canadian institution.
Work Experience
•Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role in Canada which includes direct experience in the job duties listed for this role;
•Prior experience using a Microsoft accounting system will be considered an asset.
Skills
•High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
•Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
•Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE);
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook;
•Service oriented with the ability to build and maintain trusted working relationships;
•Curious and enthusiastic with a passion for learning;
•Ability to juggle multiple tasks and requests, while exhibiting time-management, organizational, and prioritization skills;
•Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
•Committed to ongoing personal and professional development including pursuing the Chartered Professional Accountants designation.
