Job Summary
The Estimator Assistant will support the lead estimator by gathering data, preparing takeoffs, managing documentation, and identifying potential projects to bid on. In addition, this role includes light marketing duties such as project lead generation, updating company profiles on bid platforms, and assisting in proposal preparation.
This is an exciting hybrid role for someone who enjoys both numbers and strategy—perfect for a self-starter with interest in construction bidding and industry outreach.
Duties
•Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for projects.
•Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate project scope and requirements are understood.
•Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
•Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
•Prepare detailed reports for management review regarding project estimates.
•Negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
•Research and identify upcoming construction projects relevant to detention/security equipment.
•Track project leads using platforms.
Experience
•Previous experience or education in estimating, construction management, marketing, or related fields preferred
•Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
•Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications (basic knowledge acceptable; training provided)
•Strong research and communication skills
•Self-motivated and able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
•Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field is essential
•Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols
•Proficiency in cost control measures and techniques
•Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively
