Monterey One Water is seeking a technically skilled and dynamic administrator to serve as their next Controller/Assistant Director of Finance! This critical position is ideal for a capable professional ready to take charge of the financial operations of a forward-thinking water agency. This leader will work in partnership with the Director of Finance to oversee key financial functions for the Agency, including audits and financial reporting, accounts payable (AP), procurement, payroll, and general ledger management, with oversight of five direct staff and an approximate departmental budget of $2 million They will also have the opportunity to assist the Director of Finance in preparation of the Agency’s annual $90 million budget and long-range financial planning. This position will improve efficiency and internal controls, seek opportunities to optimize processes, and set a high standard for compliance. They will also lead with positive encouragement, structure, and a decisive leadership style, establishing clear expectations and accountability.
The ideal candidate will have a background in public sector or special district finance. They will have prior annual and single audit experience which includes working directly with auditors, compiling necessary documentation, and handling all aspects of financial reporting and compliance with GASB. An annual salary of $170,876 – $218,086 DOE/DOQ , plus a generous benefits package:

MetLife. 1x employee's annual salary plus $15,000, maximum of $265,000, paid by Agency.

Vacation
Six month waiting period, accrual every pay period. 440 is the max accrual.
Employees are granted 96 hours of sick leave, accrued per pay period. There is no limit to the amount of sick leave an employee may accrue due to the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) sick leave conversion credit accumulation upon retirement.
Up to five days per incident. Employees can use sick, vacation, compensatory time, or Admin leave.
Temporary military leaves of absence will be granted to engage in ordered military duty.
13 paid Holidays per year + 1 floating holiday per year.
The Agency provides and pays for an EAP Program through Claremont EAP.
The employee will be reimbursed for books and tuition only and the employee will receive reimbursement of the course with a grade of "C" or higher. There is a 6 month waiting period for this benefit. Reimbursement is limited to the following maximums:
AFLAC, Flexible Spending Account (unreimbursed medical and dependent care) and Deferred Compensation Plan (Principal, no matching funds).
