As a member of the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Inspection team, you will be part of a team responsible for inspecting, reporting, and performing preventative maintenance on blades in our North American fleet of turbines.


Role Responsibilities:

Adhere to the company’s values and behaviors as defined by the ONE RWE philosophy
Ensure that all operation and maintenance activities were performed in a safe manner consistent with policies and procedures. This includes wearing essential safety equipment, including a personal fall arrest system, as well as identifying potential hazards on the job
Climb wind towers and access wind turbines to perform composite non-destructive testing, internal blade inspections, & reporting tasks
Lift, carry, and transport essential equipment, tools, and materials to the job site
Support a team in performing visual blade inspections and NDT UT scans on multiple turbine manufacturers, including GE, Siemens, Vestas, Gamesa, Acciona, Nordex, etc.
Assist in the mobilization of all inspection equipment to the site
Ensure proper storage, maintenance, and handling of all NDT equipment
Perform safety and other wind farm-related tasks when assigned and fill in as a backup to personnel at other RWE sites when necessary
Perform all other duties assigned as may be required from time to time
Required: All applicants must be able to provide proof of High School Diploma or GED
Required: All applicants must pass physical fitness tests required to maintain Global Wind Organization Certification; in addition, at the discretion of the business, future successful completion of physical fitness tests will be required
Required: All applicants must possess an unrestricted driver’s license in good standing
Preferred: GWO Certification
Preferred: Training related to composite materials inspection and repair
Preferred: Training related to non-destructive testing & inspections
Preferred: Willing and able to obtain and maintain an RWE-sponsored NDT UT Level I & Level II if so requested by the company, for inspecting and scanning of our composite component equipment
Preferred: Willing and able to obtain and maintain an RWE-sponsored Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS) 107a Pilot License if requested by the company for inspecting our wind turbine generator blade


Job Requirements and Experiences:

Experience in project development or adjacent areas within the power sector is an advantage (e.g., market analysis, transmission & interconnection, PPA marketing, electrical engineering, environmental analysis, M&A, etc.)
Demonstrated experience in blade damage assessment and repair
Experience across multiple manufacturers (i.e., GE, Siemens, Vestas, Gamesa, Acciona, Nordex)
Experience with LPS systems
Experience in NDT UT techniques
Structured and organized, able to manage multiple projects at the same time
Strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and work ethic
Understanding of wind turbine blade construction, inspection, and repair, including LPS systems
Knowledge of fiberglass defect and failure types
General understanding of composite materials
Accurately completing QA/QC documentation
Ability to read and understand Engineering Work Instructions


Physical Requirements:

Travel up to 100 %, work at multiple worksites, hot/cold weather conditions, and work irregular hours, nights, weekends, and on short notice.
Must be able to maintain a personal weight limitation of 270 lbs
Must be able to climb wind towers daily. During this task, employees must be able to open/close hatch doors and identify potential safety hazards
Must be able to balance to: (1) work in closed and small swaying areas on top of and within wind towers, and (2) walk across small surface areas to access areas within wind turbines
Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
Ability to work safely in extreme environments (hot sun, cold, etc.)
Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work day
Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
Ability to work within tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned
