Performs maintenance and repair work on behalf of the Texarkana Water Utilities Fleet Services Division. Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues; conducts preventative maintenance; prepare and maintain maintenance records; and performs other related duties as required.
Works under the close supervision of the Fleet Manager.

· Operate computer, copiers, telephones, mechanical lifts, hoists, jacks, welding and cutting equipment, pneumatic air tools, battery operated tools, electronic tools and hand tools, facility doors, presses, brake lathes, pumps, fans, pressure washer, vacuum, diagnostic instruments, and any other tool or mechanism typically found in a repair facility.
· Repairs and maintains various types of equipment and vehicles for TWU, TAFD, TAPD, TAPW, Animal Shelter, Airport and Bi-State.
· Inspects equipment and vehicles to keep them in a dependable and safe operating condition and making necessary repairs as needed.
· Diagnoses and troubleshoots various types of electrical and mechanical issues involving engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic, and fuel systems.
· Performs minor and major mechanical repairs, repairs or replaces engines, transmissions, water/fuel pumps, radiators, alternators, differentials, timing chains, belts, hoses, fuses, valves, batteries, etc.
· Responds to service or wrecker calls for assistance. Repair or retrieves equipment or vehicles in the field as required.
· Prepares, updates, and maintains maintenance data on workorders.
· Assists in locating needed parts as required.
· Participates in cleaning and maintaining shop facilities and equipment.
· Transport equipment and vehicles to various locations.
· Performs preventative maintenance necessary to ensure the proper functioning of vehicles, electrical and mechanical systems, and component parts.
· Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
· High school diploma or GED equivalent, preferably a graduate of a state certified vocational institution.
· Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Regulations governing the maintenance of fleet vehicles.
· Equipment and vehicles relative to municipal operations.
· Conducting a variety of skilled mechanics duties.
· Maintaining TWU, TAFD, TAPD, TAPW, Animal Shelter, Airport and Bi-State. equipment and vehicles in safe operating condition.
· Diagnosing and repairing various types of electrical and mechanical issues.
· Safely operating and maintaining mechanic tools and equipment.
· Ability to work indoors or outdoors under various weather conditions and/or noise levels.
· Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other staff, city personnel and vendors.
A valid drivers’ license from state of residence.
Hand and power tools, electronic tools, vehicle diagnostic equipment, jacks, hydraulic lifts, hoists, motorized hoists or cranes, air and battery-operated tools, any tools required for repairs and routine maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
