Scope: The Commercial Supervisor position has overall responsibility for managing the commercial team and providing strategic direction for purchasing, installation, scheduling, and warehouse functions.
a) Has the overall responsibility for ensuring that the facilities have good cross communication and share best practices, usually by way of a regular meeting with facility managers to review operational issues and resource needs.
b) Leads the Company Commercial purchasing function by maintaining close communication with the strategic vendors of materials and leads negotiations for annual or other long-term purchase agreements and pricing terms and conditions.
c) Review contracts, check for discrepancies vs the bid and note any issues that result in extra costs not accounted for in the quote. Determine how to proceed prior to signing.
a) Supervises, mentors, and supports Commercial project team (estimators, project managers, installers), including reviewing their work, strengthening necessary job skills, communicating performance concerns, and providing the necessary resources to strengthen areas of development.
b) Monitor and ensure that pre-production, job scheduling guidelines and installation methods are followed to meet budgeted costs and quality targets.
c) Coordinates and directs the various department activities and tasks to control costs within established guidelines, budgets, and forecasts with effective and professional communication between estimators, project teams and the production supervisor.
d) Ensures cross communication between facility managers and share best practices, operational issues, and resource needs.
e) Approve timesheets and time off requests. Conduct performance reviews, address complaints, and resolve problems.
f) Completes month end and commission reports each month.
a) Leads the Commercial operations of the company to meet or exceed the established annual expense budget targets by cost control and close monitoring and management of the actual time to install jobs within the estimated times.
b) Manages the Divisions fleet of vehicles and equipment to ensure that protocols, safety, and maintenance schedules are followed.
c) Responsible for scheduling resources to complete jobs timely and within budgets.
a) Responsible for employee coaching, mentoring, discipline, counseling, training, and development.
c) Manage and resolve disputes with customers, suppliers, and vendors.
d) Communicate with all levels of the organization in a professional manner.
a) Leads the Company Commercial Division operational functions, expanding the reach and developing growth strategies to increase profitability.
b) Investigate more efficient ways to process information and install products to produce the highest level of quality for the least amount of cost.
a) Involvement with the Safety program along with the Residential Operations Managers, other Branch Managers and Human Resources.
b) Responsible for teams’ compliance with all safety rules and regulations.
Five to eight years of experience in supervision and managing people and projects in a construction environment that encompasses skills and tasks associated with this role. Background in finance to complete budgets is beneficial. Must understand and know industry practices and methods on construction and installation of materials. Must have knowledge of shop drawings and design to interpret and decide proper methods and advise installers of methods. Good analytical and organizational abilities.
High school diploma or GED required. Must have a valid driver’s license. OSHA 10 or 30 certification helpful. Leadership, Lean, or other related educational areas preferred.
Physical Demands: Periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
