The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are looking for a Construction Project Engineer to be a part of our growing Energy division in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will assist with the management of projects, including the field operations, quality control, safety, documentation, fiscal performance and other complex components. Additionally, some responsibilities you will have include:

Field Operations:

•

Assist the Site Superintendent with leading field operations. May serve as the on-site point of contact for client, subcontractors, vendors and field personnel.

•

Validate completed work prior to Quality Control inspections to ensure substantial completion.

•

Assist the Site Superintendent with verification of work progress, work completed, and ensure information is captured in the daily reports.

•

Uphold and communicate McKinstry safety standards.

•

Assess site safety and implement actions to prevent injury to property and personnel.

•

Obtain detailed knowledge of contract, drawings, and specification for project(s).

•

Oversee the scheduling and coordination of trades.

Documentation:

•

Maintain drawings, daily correspondence with trades, schedules, RFI logs, Submittal logs, Observation Reports, and Superintendent Daily Reports.

•

Create and respond to Requests for Information (RFI).

•

Collaborate with subcontractors to assemble site-specific work plans.

•

Process, review, log and distribute submittals.

•

Maintain as-built drawings.

•

Assist with documentation of Quality Control inspections and observations, and ensure deficiencies are completed in a timely manner.

•

Coordinate site walks, quality inspections, etc. with McKinstry project team, subcontractors, Quality Control, and client as applicable.

•

Document existing conditions with notes, photographs, video and ensure information is uploaded to project management software.

•

Create and publish Operations and Maintenance Manuals for client.

•

Maintain cost issue logs.

•

Coordinate with Safety Program Manager to create and communicate site safety plan.

•

Assist in development of Scope of Work for subcontractors.

Project Coordination:

•

Coordinate equipment procurement with Construction Manager and outside vendors to order and expedite material.

•

Assist with Project Controls:

o Review and substantiates subcontractor billing.

o Draft subcontract and purchasing agreements.

o Assist with client billings.

o Assist in preparation of monthly project accounting review.

o Manage to ensure accuracy of change log.

•

Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

•

BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Facilities Management or comparable degree—or equivalent work experience required.

•

Two (2) years of progressive project responsibilities in Project Engineer role required.

•

Knowledge of construction management, commercial building process required.

•

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.

•

PE, LEED professional designations preferred.

The pay range for this position is $32.85 - $48.89 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
