Job Title: Controls Technician
Location: Milford, MI Department: Controls
Position Summary:
CSM Mechanical is seeking a skilled and motivated Controls Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and servicing of Building Management Systems (BMS) and associated low-voltage controls. This position requires a strong understanding of HVAC control systems, wiring practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Install low-voltage wiring for control systems, end devices, and controllers.
•
Understand and work with both analog and digital inputs and outputs.
•
Connect, terminate, and verify operation of various control devices (temperature sensors, relays, actuators, etc.).
•
Interpret and follow wiring schematics and technical diagrams.
•
Upload and download control programs to controllers using appropriate software tools.
•
Perform commissioning of controllers and field devices to ensure proper system functionality.
•
Provide service and support for customers’ BMS systems, including troubleshooting HVAC or lighting equipment.
•
Analyze system data and equipment readings to diagnose faults and recommend corrective actions.
•
Participate in after-hours service calls on a rotating “on-call” basis.
Qualifications:
•
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
•
2+ years of experience in controls, HVAC, or low-voltage systems installation and troubleshooting.
•
Proficiency in reading electrical and wiring schematics.
•
Familiarity with BMS systems and controller software (e.g., Niagara, Tridium, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, etc.) is a plus.
•
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical/electrical aptitude.
•
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
•
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
•
Willingness to participate in after-hours and weekend on-call rotation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
