Quantitative Analytics & Research Analyst

What You’ll Do:

As part of this team, you’ll turn complex challenges into opportunities using advanced analytics and technology. Your key responsibilities will include:

Developing and optimizing models, including machine learning, statistical, and optimization-based models, to drive Client success.

Building interactive tools and dashboards that provide real-time insights to both Internal and External Clients.
Staying ahead of the curve by researching market trends, refining modeling techniques, and identifying game-changing opportunities.
Collaborating and communicating technical findings into strategic recommendations for non-technical audiences.
Following best practices, including participating in code reviews, leveraging internal R packages, and maintaining version control with Git.


What You Bring to the Team:

Passion for analytics and problem-solving with a drive to find meaningful insights in complex data.
Strong skills in machine learning, predictive modeling, and optimization techniques such as regression, neural networks, and feature engineering.
Solid understanding of electricity markets, including economic dispatch, marginal pricing, and market clearing rules.
Proficiency in R or Python, with a working knowledge of web design (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, R-Shiny),Stochastic approach, and database queries.


Your Growth Path at TEA:

Entry-Level Analyst

– Operate and maintain models, gaining hands-on experience with TEA’s tools and industry functions.

Qualified Analyst

– Design and refine analytical models, assess their effectiveness, and contribute to cutting-edge solutions.

Senior Analyst

– Provide strategic insights, manage projects, and support TEA’s business development initiatives.

Senior Analyst, Lead / Principal Analyst

– Serve as a subject matter expert, mentor team members, and lead high-impact initiatives.


What You Need to Succeed:

Master’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, mathematics, economics, or a related field. (Preferred: Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Power System Economics)

Experience in the electric utility industry and proficiency in R/Python and object-oriented programming.
Certifications in Data Analytics, Optimization, or Machine Learning are a plus.


Tools & Technology You’ll Work With:

Microsoft Word, Excel/Visual Basic, and other advanced analysis tools.
Large-scale utility simulation software such as PROMOD, PLEXOS, AuroraXMP, GE Maps, Dayzer, PSS/e, and PowerWorld.
Decision analysis techniques such as decision trees and influence diagrams.


Compensation & Benefits:

Competitive Salary:

Based on experience, level and location.

For Washington state candidates – Entry Level: $94,016.59 - $127,198.9, Mid-Level: $108,119.08 - $146,278.75
Incentives:

Annual target short-term incentive rate of 17.5% of base salary based on corporate, team, and individual performance.
