Summary

Deburr, grind, sand, timesave, or otherwise finish metal parts using equipment or hand tools.

Minimum Qualifications

· High School diploma or equivalent

· Demonstrated competency in basic hand and power tool usage

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions

· Ability to perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time

· Ability to keep hand and arm steady while moving arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position

· Visual acuity to see details of parts at near distances

· Detail oriented

Essential Functions

· Grind, sand, clean, or polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and/or power tools

· Trim, scrape, or deburr objects or parts, using hand tools and equipment

· Set up and use Timesaver to grain metal parts

· Read and interpret work orders and/or drawings to determine the specific finish requirements

· Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards

· Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment

· Follow all company rules and policies, safety rules and quality standards

· Other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Physical Demands

See details of objects that are less than a few feet away. Move two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place. Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm. Use one or two hands to grasp and move objects. Use fingers to grasp and move objects. Bend, stretch, twist, or reach out. Make repetitive movements with fingers, hands, and wrists. Use muscles for extended periods without getting tired.

Work Environment

Environment is a sheet metal fabrication shop. Worker will be subject to high noise levels and exposed to heavy machinery. Worker may be exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles. Sheet metal can cause cuts and lacerations. Metal is highly conductive of thermal energy. Burns are possible when metal is exposed to open flames or a heat source. Inhaling sheet metal dust can increase the chances of respiratory illness. Exposure to oil and grease is possible. Machinery such as turrets, lasers, press brakes, shears, saws, and mills can cause bodily harm in the event of improper operation or malfunction.
