Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Safety Director to lead and manage our safety program across multiple states. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with OSHA, and all federal, state, and local safety regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction safety, transportation compliance, and a proven track record of building and sustaining a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety Program Leadership: Develop, implement, and oversee the company-wide safety program, policies, and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement.
Safety Committee: Create, lead, and facilitate the company’s Safety Committee, ensuring cross-departmental representation and active participation.
Training and Education: Develop and conduct safety training programs (e.g., OSHA 10/30, defensive driving, fall protection, PPE, hazard communication, confined space, etc.) for all levels of employees.
Site Audits and Inspections: Perform regular job site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across all active construction projects to identify potential hazards and enforce safety policies.
Incident Investigation: Lead root-cause investigations of all accidents, incidents, near-misses, and injuries; develop corrective actions and preventive measures.
Workers’ Compensation Management: Oversee the workers’ compensation process, including claim reporting, coordination with insurance carriers, light-duty/return-to-work programs, and communication with injured employees and supervisors to ensure prompt, fair, and compliant resolution of claims.
Regulatory Interface: Serve as the primary contact with Workers Comp Carrier, OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory agencies during inspections, investigations, and audits.
Reporting and Metrics: Maintain safety records, prepare reports on incidents, trends, compliance status, and present findings to leadership.
Fleet Safety Oversight: Work with the fleet department to ensure vehicle safety compliance, driver safety programs, and accident prevention strategies.
Emergency Response Planning: Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and response plans across job sites and company locations.
Leadership and Culture Building: Champion a culture of safety through communication, engagement, and accountability at all organizational levels.
Conducting site audits: Auditing installation and project sites for adherence to safety protocols and PPE compliance. Visiting branches for safety checks and procedures.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field (preferred). Or equivalent experience.
Minimum 7 years of safety management experience in the construction industry, with at least 3 years in a DOT-regulated environment.
Strong knowledge of WC case management, OSHA standards and state-specific compliance.
Professional certifications such as CHST, CSP, or CSHO strongly preferred.
Experience conducting training and managing multi-state safety programs.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to travel 25-35% of the time to project sites across multiple states.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Must be able to manage members of the safety team and implement a Company Adopted Safety Strategy for training, PPE, corrective action and culture.


Working Conditions:

Travel to construction sites, field offices, and corporate locations.
Exposure to outdoor construction environments and hazards.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
