Job Summary Description:
•Reading and interpreting blueprints or drawings to determine the necessary materials and tools.
•Measuring and marking cutting lines on drywall, using square, measuring tape, and marking devices.
•Fitting and fastening wallboard or sheetrock into the specified position on building frames.
•Applying tape and a joint compound to fill joints, holes, and cracks in drywall surfaces.
•Sanding rough spots after the compound dries to ensure a smooth, consistent finish.
•Ensuring compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and standards.
Essential Job Accountabilities:
•Measure, mark, and cut drywall panels to fit in designated spaces on walls and ceilings.
•Fasten panels to the inside framework of buildings using screws and adhesives.
•Prepare panels for painting by taping and finishing joints and imperfections.
•Follow all health and safety regulations while on the job site.
•Communicate with supervisors and other team members regarding any potential issues with delivery and installation timelines.
•Coordinate with other construction professionals to ensure smooth workflow and timing.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
•High school diploma or equivalent, completed a vocational training program in drywall installation, or a related field.
•Understanding of basic drywall handling and installation
•Ability to use hand and power tools safely
•Effective verbal communication skills
•Familiarity with reading blueprints
•Accuracy with measurements
•Ability to move panels into place and install fasteners
•Understanding of and willingness to follow construction site safety practice
