Position Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Controls Designer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of control systems for high-temperature industrial processes, such as furnaces, kilns, and combustion equipment.

Key Responsibilities
•Design and develop electrical control systems for industrial thermal processes
•Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical
•Program and configure PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and HMI interfaces
•Select and specify appropriate control components, including sensors, relays, drives, and instrumentation
•Integrate control systems with mechanical and process systems for seamless operation
•Support system installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting at client sites
•Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., CSA, NEC, NFPA)
•Collaborate closely with mechanical, combustion, and process engineers
•Provide documentation, wiring diagrams, and training materials for end users
•Identify and implement system upgrades and optimizations to improve performance and reduce energy consumption
Qualifications
•Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field
•7+ years of experience in electrical controls design for industrial applications
•Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical and control panel design best practices
•Hands-on experience with PLC programming (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens) and HMI development
•Strong understanding of industrial electrical standards, safety codes, and panel assembly
•Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills in professional-level English
•Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and client-facing environments
•Willingness to travel to client sites as needed
•CET certification or P.Eng designation (or eligibility) is an asset
