Primary Responsibilities
Electronic Fabrication & Assembly
•
Build and wire custom control boxes, A/V racks, and exhibit electronics based on engineering drawings and project requirements.
•
Assemble and solder custom circuit boards and electronic components for interactive installations.
•
Troubleshoot and repair electronic, mechanical, and A/V systems during fabrication and installation.
Programming & Prototyping
•
Program microcontrollers (Arduino, C++), PLCs, and show control systems for interactive exhibits.
•
Prototype and test exhibit components, sensors, and interactive elements to evaluate performance.
•
Assist in refining and optimizing custom software, firmware, and control logic.
Project Coordination & Documentation
•
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical schematics, and project blueprints.
•
Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, parts lists, and system schematics for all assigned projects.
•
Collaborate with designers and engineers to ensure seamless exhibit integration and installation.
Material Sourcing & Installation Support
•
Research, source, and purchase electronic components, sensors, lighting, and A/V equipment.
•
Support on-site installations, troubleshooting and adjusting systems as needed.
•
Provide technical support and maintenance for previously installed exhibits.
Qualifications & Competencies
•
3+ years of experience in electrical technology, electronics, or a related field OR a degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or computer technology.
•
Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot electronics, A/V, and control systems.
•
Experience with microcontrollers (Arduino in C++), with additional programming languages or PLC knowledge as a plus.
•
Proficiency in soldering, wiring, and assembling electronic components.
•
Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, CAD drawings, and technical blueprints.
•
Experience with CAD, SketchUp, or SolidWorks is a plus.
•
Strong organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to maintain detailed records and system diagrams.
•
Experience with power system design, high-voltage control box fabrication, or VFDs is a bonus.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
•
Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
•
Comfortable working in shop conditions, active construction sites, and installation environments.
•
Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work with tools for extended periods.
•
Must be able to operate computers, test equipment, and fabrication machinery as needed.
