Role Overview:
Serve as a member of the Sacramento, CA Transmission & Distribution group, responsible for the engineering, design, development, implementation, and analysis of power delivery systems. It may include distribution, substation, relay protection, civil/structural and transmission design. The Engineer IV also recommends, reviews, and provides quality assurance checks to engineering and design development and deliverables to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Using client standards, the Engineer II prepares construction work packages for implementation of recommended remediation measures, including preparation of drawings and creating material lists. Engineer II is responsible for training entry-level engineers and leading projects from the scoping stage through to construction. Additionally, Engineer IV also supervises site activities during walk downs and construction and set priorities and tasks for newly recruited engineers. This Engineer IV will have the following duties:
Responsibilities:
•Develop conceptual routes, terrain models, structure loading calculations, layouts, preliminary and for construction detailed engineering and design and specifications for high voltage transmission and/or distribution lines.
•Develop project engineering, design and construction deliverables including plan and profile sheets, staking sheets, bills of materials, stringing charts, pole loading drawings, framing drawings, and other construction drawings.
•Provide quality assurance and quality checks for project engineering deliverables developed internally or by third parties.
•Create engineering and design project guidelines and criteria.
•Complete constructability review of design packages.
•Analyze construction as-built revisions.
•Provide construction support including responding to project RFI's throughout the project life cycle.
•Support client's project engineers including interfacing regularly with the client at their offices or in the field attending project job walks.
•Project oversight and mentoring of Designers and Engineers.
•Perform any other duty or task as assigned by the Manager, Director or Vice President of Transmission and Distribution.
•Support project managers on project status, financial health, and schedule changes throughout the lifecycle of projects.
•Independently plan work to meet assigned general objectives.
•Prioritize work, manage tasks for multiple projects under budget and time constraints
•Support management team in preparing bids, proposals, and change orders.
•Collaborate with the land, environmental, and customer outreach departments to ensure permits are in place before construction begins.
•Conduct failure investigations, review projects that impact existing or planned transmission facilities and develop and implement new technologies.
•Organize and lead lesson learning opportunities and training programs.
