Summary

This position is for a placement of an engineering co-op student. The student will work on various activities as part of the Aquatera engineering department. The Engineering department manages capital upgrades and works with operations on maintenance and repair projects at Aquatera facilities. The student will have a variety of tasks and projects during the work term. You will work with the engineering team on infrastructure projects, including water mains, sanitary sewers, solid waste and energy. Responsibilities will include drawing markups and updates, site verifications and inspections, preliminary scheduling, preliminary estimating, and engineering calculations.


Job Duties


Responsibilities include the following:

Capital project delivery assistance and management: Drawing reviews and markups, site investigations, estimation, engineering calculations, scheduling, contract scopes of work, construction inspections with the engineering and inspection team
Pre-engineering, pre-construction, and post-construction site inspections, for capital and shareholder projects, with the engineering and inspections team
Engineering procedure update assistance: updating standard drawings, engineering calculations supporting general installation guidelines, and asset design guides


Qualifications


The successful candidate:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must be enrolled in a Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program from an accredited post-secondary institute
Must have a safety-first mindset; preferred previous experience in an industrial setting with a proven track record working in an operating facility
Must have AutoCAD experience, or other 2D/3D design proficiency
Must have MS Word, Excel experience; MS Project experience is a benefit
Must have good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Will have strong technical writing skills
Will be a committed team player with the ability to work independently
Will be aligned with Aquatera’s Core Values; Safety, Teamwork, Quality, Respect
Must possess a valid Canadian driver’s license (Class 5 minimum – GDL acceptable); company vehicle provided for site trips
Must provide a current driver’s abstract satisfactory to the Employer

The successful candidate will be required to provide a current driver’s abstract satisfactory to the Employer as a condition of employment. We request this be provided at time of interview.
