Environmental Analyst

Due to the large number of projects and new regulatory compliance guidelines in the Commonwealth, the Littleton Electric Light & Water Department (LELWD) is seeking applications for an Environmental Analyst to assist with all aspects of water quality monitoring, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance for the Littleton water and sewer systems. This position will report directly to the Water & Sewer Superintendent, and may occasionally supervise interns.


Responsibilities will include:

Conduct water quality sampling and water level monitoring at groundwater monitoring wells, surface water locations, treatment plants, and water customer locations.
Assist with water quality database entry and maintenance.
Conduct site visits and environmental audits at locations in Town to ensure compliance with local permit requirements.
Conduct environmental communications and outreach initiatives.
Identify water conservation efforts and support water loss control activities.
Attend trainings and educational events to inform department-related activities.
Assist with LWD map maintenance and geospatial data collection.

The position requires at minimum a B.S. in Science or Engineering, and a valid Class D Massachusetts’ Driver’s License. Desired employment or internship experience includes field collection of environmental data, data analysis and reporting, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The candidate must be fluent with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Upon hire, they must pass a physical examination and drug and alcohol screening. Must obtain T1 and D1 drinking water licenses within 3 months of hire, and a 5C wastewater license within first 6 months of employment. Salary range between $55,000 - $65,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.

Benefits include a 4-day work week (Monday through Thursday, 6:30-4:30), enrollment in the Massachusetts Public Pension System, 12 paid holidays per year, 2 weeks’ paid vacation per year to start (up to 5 weeks depending upon years of service), 12 sick days per year, and 24 hours of personal time per year.
