Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of projects, providing accurate cost estimates and ensuring effective project management. This position requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
•
Review mechanical drawings and specs to identify insulation scope and material requirements.
•
Perform quantity take-offs
•
Solicit vendor pricing; build detailed cost estimates and proposals.
•
Collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to confirm labor and production factors.
•
Participate in pre-bid meetings, RFIs, and value-engineering discussions with clients.
•
Maintain an organized bid log, track wins/losses, and sharpen our numbers for future bids.
Requirements
•
2+ years of estimating experience in mechanical insulation, HVAC, or related trades (plumbing, piping, sheet-metal, etc.).
•
Comfortable reading P&IDs, isometrics, and construction plans.
•
Working knowledge of insulation types, thicknesses, and installation methods (hot/cold service, cryogenic, fire-rating).
•
Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
•
Strong math, attention to detail, and deadline discipline.
•
Solid communication skills—you can explain numbers to both field crews and executives.
•
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 is a bonus.
