POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and in coordination with the Route Supervisor, the Field Technician/Diesel Truck Mechanic is responsible for the repair, servicing, and preventative maintenance of all fleet vehicles, including rear and side-load recycling trucks, semi-trucks, and trailers. He/she will also provide additional maintenance support to the overall functions of the business, including assisting in repairs and maintenance for recycling processing equipment, conveyors, and rolling stock in a Materials Recovery Facility
NOTE: Pay listed is starting base pay and does not include regular bonuses. Actual rate may be higher based upon candidate's skills and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Maintains a working knowledge of all electrical and mechanical components of all fleet vehicles (rear-loaders, side-loaders, semi-trucks, trailers), hydraulic systems, etc.
•Basic engine repair and maintenance
•Welding and fabrication related to vehicles
•Ensures regular scheduled preventative maintenance is performed and recorded, communicating any related issues to the appropriate supervisor
•Responds to and problem solves to diagnose malfunctions/errors and provide workable solutions to ensure minimal interruption to recycling collections
•Maintains log of all reported fleet maintenance issues and work orders, prioritizing critical repairs as appropriate to return vehicles to duty as soon as possible
•Coordinates necessary out-sourcing of repairs and maintenance with approved vendors
•Maintains inventory of necessary parts and equipment, ordering replacement parts from approved vendors
•Ensures all appropriate maintenance tools, equipment, materials, etc. are safely and properly stored at the conclusion of each job/shift completed
OTHER DUTIES
•Other projects/duties as assigned in support of overall business operations
QUALIFICATIONS
•Understanding of mechanical, diesel, hydraulic, electrical systems
•Prior experience in maintenance and repair of medium/heavy duty trucks
•Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record
•Experience in welding is preferred, though not required
•Ability to bend and stoop for moderate periods of time
•Ability to lift light to moderate weight
