Job description
The Industrial Construction General Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily activities of craft personnel on industrial construction sites. This position ensures work is executed safely, efficiently, and according to plans, specifications, schedules, and company standards. The General Foreman serves as the key link between the field crews and project leadership, ensuring successful execution of industrial construction tasks such as structural, mechanical, piping, and civil disciplines.
Qualifications:
•
High school diploma or equivalent required.
•
7+ years of industrial construction experience, with 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
•
Strong understanding of industrial construction disciplines: mechanical, piping, civil, and structural.
•
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
•
Proficient in construction math and field calculations.
•
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
•
Ability to work in physically demanding environments (climbing, lifting, exposure to outdoor elements).
•
Familiarity with Microsoft office products.
•
Proficient in safe rigging, crane picks, and placing various equipment in an industrial setting.
•
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
•
Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with all personnel
•
A valid driver's license is required upon hire.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Supervise and coordinate the work of multiple crews, including foremen, journeymen, and laborers.
•
Ensure all work is performed safely, in compliance with company policies and OSHA/ MSHA regulations.
•
Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
•
Monitor crew productivity, material usage, and project timelines to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
•
Ensure that all work is performed to the highest quality standards and in accordance with project specifications.
•
Communicate daily with project managers, superintendents, and engineers to relay progress, issues, and resource needs.
•
Coordinate equipment, tools, and materials for each phase of the project.
•
Support project scheduling by identifying task durations, dependencies, and resource requirements.
•
Participate in job site meetings and safety briefings; lead daily toolbox talks and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
•
Mentor, coach, and train field personnel; foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
•
Maintain detailed records of labor, material, and equipment usage.
