Horizontal Directional Drill Locator
We’re looking to hire a Horizontal Directional Drill Locator for our crew operating in Las Vegas, NV and the surrounding area. HDD Locators are responsible for precise drill placement, utilizing the latest in electronics to navigate the drill stem in a trenchless operation. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with experience in underground telecom construction and utility locating. You’ll be working with specialized equipment to support critical infrastructure projects. Essential Duties:
•Locate telecom utilities with either Digi-track or Subsite locating systems
•Locate and verify all underground utilities before construction
•Read and interpret utility maps to determine the presence of underground utilities
•Interpret the signals from underground transmitters about location, angle, temperature, and other factors of drill position for the drill operator
•Assist in all locating aspects of the project as directed by the drill operator
•Apply all safety procedures required by company and client policy, and city, state, and federal regulation
•Handle other construction duties, including the use of hand and power tools
•Assist crew members as needed to place underground pipes and conduits
•Other responsibilities as directed
Key Qualifications:
•Experience with locating & verifying underground utilities
•Knowledge of telecommunications construction
•Familiarity with Horizontal Directional Drills
•Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
•Clear oral and written communication skills
•A positive attitude and good work ethic
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
•Independent worker with a keen attention to safety
•Flexibility to travel as needed
•The physical activity required for this role includes:
•+ Standing or walking for long periods with repeated lifting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead
+ Repeatedly lifting heavy loads (up to 50 lbs.),
+ Proximity to energized and de-energized electric lines and moving mechanical parts
+ Exposure to a range of weather conditions, including hot and cold weather
+ Frequently pull or push heavy objects, occasionally exerting 100 pounds of force, and frequently exerting 50 pounds of force
+ Occasionally work in confined spaces or on elevated work safe areas of up to 75 feet
+ May spend long periods driving and/or riding in construction vehicles to reach remote areas of the service territory
