JOB SUMMARY: The Head Custodian is responsible for the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the schools facilities.
It is the responsibility of the Head Custodian to insure that the facilities are maintained in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety. The Head Custodian has supervisory responsibility over the other custodians including seasonal custodial employees. Safety, cleanliness and continued efficiency of operation shall be a major goal at all times..ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform and oversee cleanliness, repair and maintenance of all equipment, buildings and grounds of the school.Recommend to the Principal and Facilities Manager the purchase and replacement of maintenance equipment and custodial supplies.Coordinate with the Facilities Manager on work orders to organize, prioritize, assign schedule for completion and report when requested on work accomplishmentsPerform routine manual work involving custodial and housekeeping care of school buildings and grounds, including show removal, recycling, cleanliness and grounds keepingReport all custodial problems to the Facilities Manager in a timely mannerEnsure that all custodial equipment (buffers, vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, pails, mops, etc.) are kept clean and in excellent condition.Maintain custodial storage areas in a clean and orderly fashionOversee management of onsite hazardous materialsCollaborate with Facilities Manager to maintain a proper inventory of all custodial supplies. These include but are not limits to: light bulbs, toilet paper, paper towels, rags, cleaning solutions, waxes, buffer discs etc.Be available for after-hours response as neededAssign work schedules for school custodial staff.Direct the work of custodial staff.Make weekly inspections of all buildings and grounds.Schedule, supervise and evaluate custodial personnelAssist in the recruitment, employment, assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion, or dismissal of custodial and maintenance personnel.Maintain necessary records regarding work orders, supplies, time and attendance records etc.Coordinate building custodial vacation schedules.Responsible for securing building or creating a schedule/system for securing the building.Understand and implement safety procedures as required by the school.Per Special Event request, ensure set up and break down for meetings, dances, activities and athletic events, etc.Other duties may be assigned by Facilities Manager or Principal as neededQUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred, with demonstrable leadership skills and experience in a supervisory capacity.Must be willing to work irregular hours and be able to respond to emergencies TOOLS/TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS: Navigate and understand the schools e-mail system to send and receive information and/or work requests and work with Google Drive applications, Safeschools, Frontline and school based digital systems.Interested candidates should apply on schoolspring.com to: Rich VigueSupervisor of Facilities and Transportation
