Position Summary
TOR is currently looking for a HSE Manager to join our team. Reporting to the General Manager, North America. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader who inspires and drives excellence in the adoption and implementation of health, safety, and environmental programs.
The HSE Manager will develop and implement safety strategies based on audit results, ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations, and provide training and guidance on safety best practices. Responsibilities include hazard identification, development of safe work procedures, delivering safety training, and supporting field safety needs for TOR projects
This position is fulltime and is based out of an Alberta branch location.
Time Commitment
Monday through Friday. You may be required from time to time to work outside these hours as the need arises. Schedule may be altered at the discretion of management.
Summary of Duties (Duties may include, but are not limited to the following):
•Implement and maintain company safety policies, procedures, and training programs
•Visit all Branch locations on scheduled basis
•Develop and update manuals, safe work practices, and HSE documentation
•Lead initiatives to achieve zero-accident goals and ensure regulatory compliance
•Implement information flow and data publications to ensure each level of management is properly informed of all activities relative to compliance with company safety policies and bulletins.
•Review HSE operational/resource needs and provide budget and cost information to Senior Management for review and consideration.
•Support continuous improvement of the HSE program including but not limited to : audits, alerts, checklists, Safety Initiatives, etc. ensuring the program is in compliance with regulatory safety standards.
•Monitor HSE performance indicators for trends and implement changes for improvement as needed.
•Monitor and report HSE safety metrics to Senior Management on a quarterly basis.
•Provide formal and informal instruction to employees and monitor performance.
•Observe equipment and property conditions and report discrepancies to appropriate managers.
•Monitor and measure effectiveness of all safety programs and documentation required as part of compliance with OH&S legislation and National Safety Code Standards.
•Work proactively with regulatory agencies, customers, managers, and employees to communicate with respect to Total Oilfield’s HSE programs, procedures, and standards.
•Promote employee involvement in HSE program development and feedback
•Conduct accident investigations as necessary to assist with liability determination and causation, including resolution of open claims.
•File requests for accident evaluations, ensuring unpreventable accidents are recorded as such wherever applicable.
Required Competencies
•CRSP or similar designation preferred
•5+ years in OH&S management or supervisory roles
•Expertise in safety regulations, standards, and compliance (Federal & Provincial)
•Proven experience in safety training needs assessment, content creation, and delivery
•Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
•Skilled in coaching, training, and performance improvement
•Highly motivated, goal-oriented, and professional with a positive attitude
•Excellent time management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
•Builds strong relationships across departments and stakeholders
•Demonstrates diplomacy, work ethic, and a collaborative team spirit
